Project Details
Located in Parking Structure E, this project provided mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering design for the renovation of two floors of clinical space in compliance with Primary Care Clinics (OSHPD 3) building code standards as well as achieving LEED Gold Certification.
- The electrical scope included providing lighting and power systems for lobby, offices, and common areas as well as patient care rooms such as exam rooms, procedure rooms, and infusion rooms on the first floor.
- The second floor housed a lab space where power was provided for various laboratory workstations and storage. To obtain the optimal LEED points for lighting and reduce energy usage, most lab workstations were equipped with task lighting resulting in uniform reduction of area lighting. State-of-the-art lighting controls including controllers, occupancy and daylight sensors, and dimming system also contributed to reduction of energy consumption.
- The mechanical system for the GCRC clinic and Biomarker Wet Labs were designed to meet OSHPD 3 requirements. Similarly, the plumbing system included wet lab sinks and bio-safety hood system. Plumbing system design also consisted of clinical restrooms, showers, exam rooms, infusion rooms, and procedure room. A medical gas service was also required for the GCRC Clinic.
- Lab hoods were analyzed to provide code required velocity at the sash and to minimize airflow when the hoods were not in use.
